Born in Ukraine in 1896 and immigrated to Montreal in 1910, Isaac Jacob Segal has greatly contributed to the development of Yiddish literature in the Quebec metropolis. Author of twelve books of poetry and several essays and chronicles, he has carved a prominent place in the Jewish world of Eastern Europe and New York.
