With a little digging, and dwelling on the past the truth has been exposes. He feels it is time to finally talk. Imagine living your whole life running, and hiding from the truth. Thnk of living your life never truly knowing the truth about why you are where you are, and the reasons you have to hide, well that was Alicos life.
