Barbara J. Robertson was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, of Scottish-Irish and American Indian heritage. She began composing folk songs and poetry in her early teens, and spent two decades as a singer-songwriter in California. Three short films and one documentary film developed her film writing credits in the independent film channels.
