Dr. Patricia C. O'Brien is Professor Emeritus of Financial Accounting at the School of Accounting and Finance, University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Dr. O'Brien received an A.B. in Mathematics (cum laude) & Economics from Cornell University, New York, in 1977. She then went to the University of Chicago, Illinois, where in 1979 she earned an M.B.A., and in 1985 her Ph.D. in Accounting & Econometrics. She is interested in corporate disclosure and financial reporting, and their effects on capital markets. She is particularly interested in the role played by financial analysts as information intermediaries.
