Dorothy Miles, a former high school teacher and Chairman of the English Department in Marblehead, Massachusetts, is a lady with a zest of life, and a love and understanding of people, qualities wich are reflected in the literary style of her captivating historical romante, Dreams of Glory. A lover of American histroy and the history of her native towm, Dorothy Miles has resided in the John Hooper mansion for many years. In 1978 she published a short histroy of it, The Revival of a Marblehead Mansion, an in 1986 The Wizard of Orne Hill and Other Tales of Old Marblehead. Both were highly acclaimed for her description of charismatic, eccentric town characters pitted against the cruelties of life in early Marblehead. The success of The Revival of a Marblehead Mansion served as the inspiration for the Hooper saga.
