Ray Smith
Ray Smith
Ray Smith was born and raised in London. He was educated at Southend High School, and attended Cambridge University from 1968-71. He is primarily an artist, working in free-standing structures and painted, mosaic, and tile murals. He is also a book designer and illustrator, an his publications include two award-winning books for children and many books about art including The Artist's Handbook, which has sold over a quarter of a million copies. His first two books, children's book called The Long Slide (1977) and The Long Dive (1978), were authored by his wife, Catriona Smith.
