Zaid Akhtar or real name Mohamad Yazid Abdul Majid was born in Endau, Mersing on 16 April 1977. He received his early education at SK Teluk Lipat, Endau and secondary school at SMKA Segamat before continuing his studies in Arabic at Yarmouk University, Jordan (1995-2000) . Furthermore, Zaid obtained a Master of Modern Language Studies (Arabic) at the University of Malaya (2007-2010).
