William D. Brown, Ph.D., is Chairman of TRT, Inc. (an acronym for The Right Thing) and has served as President of The Ethics Institute, a 501(c)3 corporation. An ethicist who has written over 150 articles for a wide array of publications, he is the author of four other books, with the most recent entitled, The Ethics of Legal Ethics (1995). Along with his wife, Nett, Bill founded TRT, Inc. in 1990, an organization that offers continuing education seminars on-site, on-line and on-telephone via 800# conferencing calls. One of their specialties is legal ethics, with Bill presenting on site CLE in numerous states across the country. Hence his interest in The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, as it affects businesses and counsel, leading to the publication of Board of Directors Corporate Governance Lapdog or Watchdog? A clinical psychologist by training, Dr. Brown holds degrees from Lynchburg College, Texas Christian University and Florida State University, where he earned his doctorate. He had served on faculties at the United States Armed Forces Institute, Stephens College, Colorado State University and the University of Maryland, having served as department chair at the latter two institutions. Bill, a native of Richmond, VA, is a veteran of the United States Navy (submarine service). He and his wife, Nett, have been married for four plus decades and have two grown children and seven grandchildren, Noah, Kristen, Hunter, Heather, Parker, Leigha, and Teddy.
