Courtney Plante
Author detail
Courtney, or Nuka, as he’s known by his friends and fellow furries, is a social psychologist who graduated with a PhD in 2014 from the University of Waterloo and who is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology at Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. He’s been a furry “officially” for more than 15 years, although his interest in furry media goes back even longer than that. Nuka’s research interests include stigma, group identity, and fantasy and how all of these processes operate in the context of fan cultures, including furries, bronies, anime fans, and Star Wars fans. He also studies the impacts of media more broadly on the way we think, feel, and behave.–Author Biography in *Furscience: A Decade of Psychological Research on the Furry Fandom*.
