John Palmer Jr.
Palmer, John
John Palmer, Junior, was an actor and author. His novels have often been mistakenly attributed to John Palmer, schoolmaster of Bath (who apparently published a poem, "The creation and fall of man" in 1803, of which no copy is extant). His *Like master like man*, published posthumously in 1811, is sometimes mistakenly attributed to his father, John Palmer (1742?-1798), also an actor. His other works include *The mystery of the black tower* (1796), *The haunted cavern* (1814). He began his acting career playing the Prince of Wales at Haymarket Theatre, June 20, 1791, opposite his father John Palmer as Falstaff. He died 27 March 1809, at Plymouth Dock, in the theatre there.
