Norman H. Maring
Lived 1 Dec 1914, PA—6 Nov 1998, SC. Norman was born in Chester, PA, where his father was attending Crozer Seminary. Norman received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary [since renamed Gordon Palmer] at Philadelphia, PA, in 1941. Ordained at Pamplico Baptist Church, SC, 1940. Pastor at College Park, MD 1941-1945; Andrews, SC 1945-1948; Cumberland, MD 1948. He earned an MA degree in Sociology and PhD in History (1948) from University of Maryland. In 1948 he returned to Eastern Baptist where he taught for a total of 37 years: first History at the collegiate division and then Church History. In 1988, after several years of retirement in Chapel Hill, NC, the Marings located in Rock Hill, SC. He was married to Sara Amelia Johnson [3 Sept 1910--8 July 2000, SC] on 21 April 1935 at the First Baptist Church in Rock Hill, York Co, SC by the Rev MacFarland. Both buried at Laurelwood Cemetery. Three children.
