Hermann Rafter
Hermann Raster was a German Forty-Eighter who was Editor-in-Chief of the Illinois-Staats Zeitung, Collector of Internal Revenue for the First District of Illinois, writer, and politician. Raster's primary writings were of travels, works for the Republican Party, and abolition. He was born in Zerbst, Germany in 1827 and died on a trip for his health in Germany in 1891.
