Brian Rappatta is a native Hoosier (born and raised in Goshen, Indiana), but a Colorado transplant. He currently lives near the base of Pikes Peak in the beautiful Rocky mountains. He received a B.A. with triple majors in English, Spanish, and German from Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana. He was also fortunate to study abroad in Quito, Ecuador, and Marburg, Germany. He holds two M.A. degrees in education: one in Curriculum and Instruction, and one in Teaching English as a Second Language, both from the University of Colorado. In 2004, he attended the Odyssey Fantasy Writers Workshop in New Hampshire, where he was fortunate to study with a wonderful faculty of guest writers, including World Fantasy Award winner Jeanne Cavelos and special writer-in-residence George R.R. Martin. Shortly thereafter, he made his first professional fiction sale (“Duel” to Surreal Magazine). In late 2005, his novelette, “Tongues”, took 2nd place in the Writers of the Future contest.
