John Johnston, of Scottish lineage and a Presbyterian, immigrated soon after the Revolution from Ireland to what became Bourbon County, Kentucky, and later moved to Toboyne Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania. Descendants and relatives lived in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Colorado, California, Florida and elsewhere.
