This book is an analysis of the impact of home heating costs in a rural area of Michigan on the population aged 60+. The study found that the impact of heating costs was associated with the type of home, construction, location, and type of heating that was utilized. Costs associated with heating fuel increases were found to threaten the ability of elderly people to also afford food, medications and other essential household expenses. The book became a centerpiece in testimony before the Michigan Public Service Commission and was instrumental in freezing heating oil costs for homeowners over age 60 in rural areas of Michigan.
