This manual contains a brief history of aircraft landings on ice to illustrate the development of operational techniques. The techniques presented have been proven by field application but they are subject to revision as more is learned about the bearing strength of floating ice surfaces. The manual also contains basic informatkion to guide USAF personnel in planning the selection, establishment and use of ice airfields.
