Jeanne Bieruma Oosting (1898-1994) had a great passion for graphics. Her oeuvre includes many hundreds of prints, made in a variety of graphic techniques and created in every phase of her long working life. Since 1934 she has been a member of the Vereeniging tot Promotion der Grafische Kunst, or De Grafische for short. She remains an active and committed member until the dissolution of this company at the end of 1971. Over the decades, she got to know many fellow artists through De Grafische, such as M.C. Escher and Pam G. Rueter. She was good friends with some of them. Many joint exhibitions followed. Bieruma Oosting provided assistance to the association and she was a member of the balloting and auditing committees. The book will be published in 'De Zomer van Jeanne', in which five museums across the country show work by Jeanne Bieruma Oosting, each from its own angle. Vanaf 1934 is ze lid van de Vereeniging tot Bevordering der Grafische Kunst, kortweg De Grafische. Tot de opheffing van dit gezelschap eind 1971 blijft ze een actief en betrokken lid. In de loop der decennia leerde ze via De Grafische veel collega-kunstenaars kennen, zoals M.C. Escher en Pam G. Rueter. Met enkele daarvan was ze goed bevriend. Heel wat gezamenlijke exposities volgden. Bieruma Oosting leverde de vereniging hand- en spandiensten en ze zat in de ballotagecommissie en kascommissie. Het boek verschijnt in 'De zomer van Jeanne', waarin vijf musea verspreid over het land werk tonen van Jeanne Bieruma Oosting, ieder vanuit een eigen invalshoek.
