Basilius Besler
A description with commentary of the natural history museum of Basilius Besler and his nephew Michael Rupert. The collection had been illustrated in previous publications including Besler's Fasciculus of 1616 and Rupert's Gazophylacium of 1642. This work is a more elaborate publication with 40 smaller engravings of the various collected objects (fruits, birds, alligators, fish, fossils, corals, etc.), 24 of which were previously depicted in the earlier works, 16 which were additional illustrations.
