This bibliography was compiled as a guide to literature on social, economic and political aspects of Zimbabwe's ten years of independence 1980-1990. The date of independence, 18 April 1980, is not a clear cut-off part in the history of Zimbabwe. Many authors write of the 'colonial legacy' inherited by the new regime so that, of necessity, a certain amount of pre-independence material has been included as a background to the changes that have taken place.
