Preparing this view.
Katrin Rack, Institut Historique Institut Historique Allemand Paris
In the years between the Congress of Vienna and the Franco-Prussian War, "German" diplomats in Paris took many forms, representing not only the great powers Prussia and Austria, but also small and mid-sized states, such as Bavaria, Baden, and Hesse-Darmstadt. This study in cultural history examines the day-to-day work of diplomats in Paris, and also considers how diplomats viewed themselves.
