An evaluation of the pilot project on community-based handpump maintenance in Chivi District, Zimbabwe, in the early 1990s. The study used qualitative and quantitative methods to assess the ability of new community-based structures to maintain hampumps in this relatively dry and drought-prone district of southern Zimbabwe, as well as to explore the social dynamics around the new community-based structures.
