Evelyn Hood
Paisley 1941: Chloe is the eldest daughter of Julia and Frank McCosh and her evenings are dominated by the dance band her parents run. It is not the music that interests Chloe, but young trumpeter Dennis Morgan. Dennis, however, has other things on his mind. He's busy working for the fire brigade and keeping an eye on his wayward brother Ralph. There is also Dennis's close friendship with the mysterious Lena Fulton which is starting to get the neighbours talking. Then an unexpected guest arrives on Julia McCosh's doorstep - a face from her past she'd hoped she would never see again.
