What is the future of our train stations? More and more ticket offices are closing and many stops today only look desolate. Still, more and more commuters are finding their way to the smaller stations, also far outside the city, now that the traffic jams are increasing again. In dialogue with the province of Antwerp, the NMBS and the municipalities involved, the master's program in Urban and Spatial Planning at the University of Antwerp examined how such a station could be more than just a train stop. What could such a station mean for the neighborhood and the entire municipality? And what is needed to be able to speak of a successful and feasible station project? This ONTO bundles three semesters of analysis, design and implementation studies of four station environments in the Antwerp Kempen and studies how station development can be synonymous with core reinforcement Wat is de toekomst van onze treinstations?
