While it may seem unbelievable, some of the best-known intellectuals of the 20th century fought for communism, Soviet Iceland. However, mass shootings in the Communist states, famines, slavery camps, mass evacuation, massacres and censorship were known. By virtue of their religious turmoil and generous donations from Moscow, communists had widespread influence in Icelandic culture. However, some liberal intellectuals were opposed to the Eastern giant. On the occasion of Iceland's 100 years of sovereignty on December 1, 2018, six Icelandic writers are here presented speaking in defense of Western culture, 1950-1958.
