Fiona travels down from the Hebrides to visit Ken at his home in the Scottish borderlands. Ken is excited about the upcoming Border Riding, a traditional ride on horseback around the borders in which old customs are re-enacted. However the children’s plans to attend the Riding is changed when they encounter a bunch of sheep rustlers.
