German born Palestinian Jew and member of the British Palestinian Pioneer Corps who was captured in Greece in April 1941, author escaped in June by jumping from a bridge while boarding the train taking POWs to Germany and with assistance from Greek civilians successfully evaded through Greece and across the Aegean by boat to Turkey.
