The Space Between Dreams details the strange life, experiences, hallucinations and coincidences leading to the assassination of Howard Glass; a self-muted urban hermit, math genius, amnesiac, ex-monk and hallucinogen enthusiast. The setting is a caricatured near-future Toronto. Hiphop and martial arts cultures colour a gritty urban setting with sword duels, infiltrator clans, vocal freestylers and slick punk-literate badassitude. A cult of drug addicts - believing Howard to be their Messiah - worships him entirely behind his back. Believing him to be a dangerous cultural influence, modern-day Hashisheen operatives stalk Howard day and night evoking evidence to justify his termination. Both of these camps insist that Howard is an unwitting messiah whose untimely death has been prophesied to trigger a continental ontological apocalypse. Howard obtains and begins to decipher a cryptomechanical puzzle-cube containing six attack doses of Fantasy, the most criminalized designer hallucinogen in human history. As all the pieces of this psychedelic prophecy fall into place, the reality that surrounds Howard begins to twist and unravel.
