Christian Malycha
André Butzer is one of the most uncompromising artists of the present day. After "Friedens-Siemens" and "Science Fiction Expressionismus", which made him internationally famous, Butzer gradually erased all figurative representation and naturalistic bright color from his painting. This absolute abstraction goes hand in hand with the permanent destruction of conventional pictorial media. Butzer's most recent works are now "zero positions" comprised solely of the motif-less picture. In this book, Christian Malycha illustrates for the first time the development and consistency in Butzer's work from its beginnings to the present.
