Sue Gee
Will and Flo have found themselves, and each other, in colonial India - but as the war and the age of empire draw to a close, so they must make their way back to England. There, they and their young family attempt to fashion a new life for themselves in rural Devon. But managing a farm proves harder than Will anticipated, while Flo struggles to marry the pressures of domestic life with her desire to write. The 1950s and 60s - the decades in which their children will come of age - will challenge some of the Sutherlands' deepest certainties. But through all the misunderstandings and heartache, this less-than-perfect family remain committed to each other above all things.
