Hal Jons
A lesser man than Des Willard would have kept running. Pursued for the alleged murder of his brother Jeff, he was later accused by five witnesses of the cold-blooded killing of Sheriff Suter of Butane County. Only the horse-rancher, Jack Mallory, believed him. When Ezra Scott the Banker was murdered even Mallory doubted Willard's innocence. Fortunately Sal Dormer, the daughter of Seth Dormer, horse-trader, in Butane to buy Mallory stock, did not see Willard as a killer, and Dormer, backing Sal's instincts, took a hand.
