Miriam Borgenicht
Light, bright, deft and debonair -- here Kate Whipple, Washington newspaper columnist, unpredictable and eager beaver for a good story, finds Martin Langsdorph's corpse under her bed. Tobey Hart does amateur sleuthing to protect Kate while clues pile up -- poisoned fruit for Kate, pot-shots for Tobey, anonymous tips, a child kidnaping, more murder -- and Kate disappears. Tobey saves her and foils a third attempt. Fast paced but feminine.
