Nandini Bagchee
In her accordion zine Patricia Santana, a freshman at CCNY, writes about Banana Kelly, an activist organization based in Kelly Street in the Bronx, and the significance of agro activism. Patricia dedicates half of the zine to Banana Kelly's activist history and the latter to agro activism (agricultural activism) or food activism. After providing a brief history of the burning of the Bronx along with statistics about arson and archival images of the time, Patricia expands on Banana Kelly's historic and current role in the Bronx community. Patricia then connects Banana Kelly to how agro activism combats food deserts and child hunger in New York City. She ends the zine with cited sources.
