Fourteen-year-old Nikki has trouble accepting her new stepmother Crystal, whom her father marries eight months after the death of Nikki's mother. The problem grows worse when they visit the Northern California house where Crystal lived as a child and experienced some horrible event that she is trying to keep secret.
