John "Jack" Sherman O'Brien
By Sled Dog For Byrd, published in 1931, is an exciting account of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition of 1928-30. Author John O'Brien was a member of the geological party led by Laurence Gould, and took part in a grueling 1600 mile dog-sled journey across the Antarctic ice.
