My Indian Territory school
Work detail
“My Indian Territory School” is a 392 page history of the Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, Creek Indian Nation town site of Hoffman and of the public schools once in operation there. The narrative provides an account of a number of significant events that took place there from around 1870 up to current times, and many of these events are documented by a unique and highly personalized collection 377 photographs, facsimiles of selected documents, various mementos, or other graphic forms. The main focus is on the history of what was originally called the Hoffman Common School, several hundred former residents and many buildings, homes, landmarks, and pictured as well. The intent of the author was to capture the look and feel of day-to-day life in one of the many town sites that were incorporated on the heels of the Oklahoma Land Rush.
