Signes dans les textes, textes sur les signes
Work detail
A large number of Greek and Latin texts written on papyrus, parchment, wooden tablets, ostraca etc. are accompanied by graphic signs. Identified as accents, punctuation marks, critical signs or text organizing devices, they reflect the practices of writing, reading and studying texts in antiquity and the Middle Ages. This book is a first collection entirely devoted to the signs used in the Greek and Latin texts and presents 17 contributions presented at the international colloquium organized at the University of Liège on 6 and 7 September 2013. Relevant to epigraphy and papyrology, philology, palaeography and codicology, they examine literary and documentary texts on stone, papyrus, parchment and paper, which are dated from the 4th century BC to the 16th century.
