A fantasy science-fiction road adventure for young adults. Danny can be slow and difficult to deal with. However, his step-brother Christie cannot let Danny go on his own to find his mother in her hidden lab, far away in Scotland, especially as they will have to walk most of the way because of the oil crisis. They gather some strange companions on the road, including a dog that can talk.
