When this book was published in 1991 it broke new ground in giving a connected narrative account of Christianity in Aotearoa New Zealand. This edition retains the original format but updates suggestions for further reading, includes corrections and some additions and a last chapter. The book takes account of individuals, denominations, church life and various movements within the context of New Zealand history. It opens up new insights into the churches and the way in which in contributing to the shaping of New Zealand society the churches have also been reshaped.
