From the Preface: ' my aim has been to make the book comprehensible, with a teacher's assistance, to those who are not learning Latin but would benefit from an acquaintance with some Latin in order to develop their language awarenss and enlarge their working English; at the same time the intention is that students who are learning Latin will be able to reinforce their Latin, as well as their English, vocabulary.'
