With necessary departure from traditional local historiography and in connivance with interpretive approaches as New Cultural History and Microhistory, these essays revisit Colonial Cavite, with three engaging themes on the legacy of the Recollect friars, the British occupation of 1762 and Cavite as la joya gaditana –the jewel of Cadíz – in commemoration of the bicentennial of La Pepa or the Cadíz Constitution of 1812.
