The Alchemist of the East is an enchanting saga of gaining wisdom, following one’s heart and, above all, chasing one’s dreams. This is a story of Sushyo, a toy maker from Mesopotamia who wishes to travel all over the world and spread the message of peace and joyousness. From his home in the city of Nineveh, on the banks of river Tigris, he voyages to the land of seven rivers, Melhua to learn the art of toy making. On way he meets a one eyed Captain who calls himself a freedom fighter fighting against the evil rule of Queen Kassandra of South Arianna. The Captain is murdered by a hawk, but before he dies he directs the boy to Yatravalkya, the head of the confederacy that rules the land of Melhua. On reaching the land of seven rivers the boy joins the terracotta art school of guru Kalarth, where he meets Yatratyamini, Yatravalkaya’s daughter. She guides him further as events unfold bringing with them death and mayhem in the Sapta Sindhu confederacy. The boy becomes a toy maker of repute but a succession of happenings lead him to guru Angiras, who tells him about the legacy he represents- that of being the sole heir of the Kingdom of Arianna. The Queen Kassandra had usurped the throne and killed The toy maker’s parents and is now keen to attack the Confederacy of Sapta Sindhu. With the help of the people of Sapta Sindhu, the boy becomes the mythical hero of the book Avesta- Sushyo and in an epic battle on the banks of river Helmand defeats the army of the Greek queen and takes over the reign of the Greek empire of South west Arianna. In his quest for revenge and learning Yatrayamini is the silent guiding light until the boy realizes that she is the power behind his success, the Alchemist from the East. *****
