RESUMEN: Mientras el boom cultural e industrial de la Segunda Guerra Mundial dio a luz una nueva California, surgió a su vez una poderosa industria de acero, y con ella vino el pontencial de cumplir los sueños modestos de los trabajadores dispuestos a arriesgar sus vidas en el calor feroz de la acería. Traveling mostly on foot, a Mexican couple leave Mexico for the United States to escape the bleak realilties of their homeland and finally settle in Los Angeles to raise a family. Set in the industrial boom of post-Woirld War II Southern California, the story spans 60 years and three generations, portraying the journey of one family caught in a web of politics, racial polarization, and corrupt unions' power struggles, revealing the drama, pain, joy and humor of working-class life.
