Don't Piss Down My Back & Tell Me It's Raining
Work detail
In Don’t Piss Down My Back & Tell Me It’s Raining, Julia Eff laments the loss of a high school best friend. In high school, Eff and her best friend were known for being liberal, vegetarian zine-makers. However, after years of being trapped in the same small-minded town in which they grew up, their friend has now adopted a pro-Nazi and pro-Men’s rights perspective. The perzine is written as a letter to her; it includes moments in which Eff reminisces about their adolescence, as well as ruminations about how the effects of decades-long poverty and abuse may have driven her towards this ideological switch. –Alekhya
