Catalog of the two large-scale, interactive web-like structural installations and floating sculptures that combine the interest of spider-obsessed contemporary artist Tomás Saraceno (San Miguel de Tucumán, 1973) in arachnology, astrophysics, sound and art through a "cosmic concert". The installation "The Cosmic Dust Spider Web Orchestra" [Orquesta aracnocósmica], is a spider suspended in the middle of the room that weaves its fabrics. The vibrations that produce its movements in the fabric are amplified generating waves of sound, while particles of cosmic dust float around. In tune with the cadence of the sound waves produced by the spider, an algorithm translates the movements of the cosmic dust into sounds, which are reproduced in dozens of speakers. The instrument installation "Musical Cuasi-Social IC 342 construido por 7000 arañas Parawixia bistriata" was built between October 2016 and January 2017 by 18 colonies of spiders of the species Parawixia bistriata that wove during the night the largest cobweb. This community structure, which remembers 140 million years of arachnid presence on earth, is a microscopic fraction and, at the same time, a faithful reflection of the infinitely complex network of individuals, species and elements that make up the universe.
