With every bump in the night, her fears rose threatening to paralyze her. Why hadn't she heeded the warning? Why had she dared to cross the line between the darkness and the light? What had she been thinking? Now all she could do was listen to the not so silent footsteps drawing nearer to where she lay awaiting her fate. If she had been a praying person now would've been the time for it. The best that she could hope for was a swift end to the horrible torture and pain this horrid beast inflicted upon her very soul. She felt the scream slowly make its way from her core to her throat as the door slowly creaked open. No sound came from her mouth. There he stood in the doorway...a modern-day Prince of Darkness. She could smell the evil that oozed from his pores; it turned her stomach. She tried desperately to submerge the urge vomit in his face.
