Ethiopian passages
Work detail
"Ethiopian Passages sketches, in broad strokes, the complexities, diversity and vibrancy of artistic practices among artists of Ethiopian descent at work today. In doing so, it brings together 10 artists, from across several generations, who have addressed issues of identity, experienced displacement and created new senses of home. Their creative approaches, chosen media, artistic narratives and personal histories are eclectic, but they all share an attachment to Ethiopia. The evidence of these encounters and personal experiences traced subtly across the surfaces of the works of art attests to the magnificence of contemporary African art and its arresting power."--Jacket.
