G124
Work detail
The G124 is a working group -- commissioned by Renzo Piano -- and made up of young architects under 35 engaged in the redevelopment of the Giambellino district in Milan, a multi-ethnic district in a historic Milanese suburb where there is a core of public housing built in the thirties. The architects worked on an analysis of existing buildings, how to create and enhance green spaces, and how to balance and develop the incredible mix of ethnicities, cultures and generations. Through drawings and projects, stories and an interview, the book documents not only the study of mending, but the story and characters that make up this unique neighborhood.
