This is a hardcover book. The dust jacket looks like a black and white map with annotations in Japanese characters. The main title and author's name are in red; there is a red strip across the bottom of the dust jacket. Part I of the book consists of seventeen language lessons, teaching Japanese vocabulary which would be useful to American soldiers. Part II is titled "Helpful material for interpretations and translation." It includes the following subheadings: Japanese Syllabary, Japanese Romanization, Japanese and Wester Chronology, Numerals and Time, How to recognize Japanese writing, Table of money, weights and measures, branches of armed forces, "Japanized" English, Japanese prefectures, symbols and map reading. Part III is an English-Japanese Dictionary of Military Terms.
