Sir Stephen Fitzhugh has long dismissed the old legends as stories better left to dreamers, but a lucrative commission gives him reason to pursue one of the most famous quests in Christendom: the search for the Holy Grail. A wealthy collector promises him a fortune if he can uncover proof of its whereabouts, sending Stephen to Glastonbury, where rumor and sacred history seem to overlap. When he reaches the abbey, however, he finds only ashes and disappointment. His remaining lead points to Aislinn, the late abbot's niece, who appears to hold the key to the mystery. Aislinn is intelligent, guarded, and determined not to aid any stranger, no matter how charming or persistent he may be. As Stephen presses for answers, their reluctant partnership draws them deeper into a world of buried secrets, medieval faith, and dangerous desire, where the Grail may be less a relic than a test of trust.
