Marianne Lang
Work detail
Worlds crash into one another when Marianne Lang (*1979) makes phenomena of civilization and observations of nature collide: leaves eaten by caterpillars with wood inlays, ivy reconstructing building substance, and thousands of woodlice forming a carpet pattern. The artist thinks the concept of ?drawing? further?not only by means of unconventional techniques, but also by interlinking material and motif: curtains drawn with ?yellowing? silverpoint; moths burned in with a soldering iron; climbing plants that reveal old masonry in a sgraffito style. Marianne Lang thwarts habits of seeing and thinking and polarizes in a subtle and intelligent way. The new publication provides a look at these refined artistic observations.
